Amid Persian Dictionary 4.0

The Farhang-e Omid is a comprehensive dictionary published in two volumes. This lexicon includes Persian words, as well as Arabic, European, and Turkish terms used in the Persian language, complemented by literary and scientific terminology. It was compiled by Hassan Omid. In 1953, Omid completed and published a dictionary named Farhang-e Now, with the first volume initially released in 1929. However, the Farhang-e Omid had its first edition published in 1956, consisting of 936 pages in a compact format. A decade later, this dictionary was reissued with revisions and additional entries in 1963, totaling 1,114 pages and backed by the Ibn Sina Library. While Hassan Omid published the Farhang-e Now in 1954, the most complete version of his work, known as Farhang-e Omid, was released in 1963. The Farhang-e Omid has seen multiple printings with substantial circulation and is regarded as an almost exhaustive and popular resource. According to some experts, it is considered free of significant flaws.
